WILLBERG ANDREAE BIRCHALL - Frid May 24th - 8PM

“its a welcome reminder of the idea of ‘play’ that sits at the heart of improvisation, and which all too often gets buried under po-faced high seriousness."

-Daniel Spicer, The Wire, 2018 (writing about ‘Live in Beppu’)

"Top-notch weirdo jams from the north of England…..Hair In The Chimney brings an underground sensibility to free improvisation, with the musicians using unconventional techniques to defamiliarise their instruments."

• BESTAANSREDEN → → an experience; two nails that crawl gently under your skin. They sing powerlessness, a human life and the useless. One does it with guitar, the other with schizofrenic texts. And if you listen very well, maybe you hear yourself.

• KINGRAY → → power rock trio band from Ghent. With their driving rhythms and harmonic melodies, this band brings a raw sound quality to the stage that is influenced by 60s rock, punk but also blues and diverse other genres.

• TIM ALBUS → → poet. Goes to the bone and further where it is possible, if it works with tenderness. Everywhere and nowhere he edits his little book and if it possible he encounters his public with a pen as a sword. Fresh ideas taken from life and written fresh where his heart/dish is. Further he likes to take the public hostage, lock them up and subjects them to his works. The world is his playground, and with his poetry he experiences for a lifetime eternal youth.

• REINOUT RINUS DE VOS → → makes soundscapes. born in 1979 at Lokeren. His parents, she watercolorist, he music teacher and meditation teacher initiates him into art, music and philosophy. In high school he studies audiovisual formation. About humour he is influenced by Marx Brothers, about cinema La Nouvelle Vague and the surrealism of Louis Buñuel. But the inspiration of Reinout is altogether contained in his moustache. It reminds at the same time the moustaches of Diego Velasquez and Salvador Dali.

• PHILIP VOLCKAERT → → poet from Ghent. For years he searches the experiment and brings poems flexible to the public. Words are thoughts, they bow themselves down to sentences, as a kind of logic, till the world becomes a poem.

• TBA …

Turbulent period/discoveries. Spiritual journey/ New Orleans/noctural jamsessions/Ghent (underground) scene. Touching people/my plan/my emotions/my grief. Childish wonder/eternal search.
