GÉRARD DAVAL PRESENTS

IMPROVISED MUSIC, JAZZ

Bart Maris & Shibabi

Belgian jazz legend Bart Maris' new project recruits up-and-coming jazz trio Shibabi as his backing band, forming a mixture of recognized talent in the international jazz world and new blood from the Gent improv scene.

A quartet without an harmonic instrument, much in the tradition of bands such as Ornette Coleman's quartet, but with a personal touch and focus on free improvisation.

With its origins on the Wednesday's free improv jam session curated by Bart at The Hot Club, this new project now aims at taking its music and surprise Belgian and international audiences alike with its improvisation and unexpectedness.

Bart Maris &
Shibabi are:
Bart Maris (trumpet)
Aleksandar Skoric (drums)
Luís Melo (clarinet) and
Francisco Morato (electric bass).
Special Guest
Mattia Gobbo (drums).
